SONOMA VALLEY: The name Sonoma, and the sobriquet “Valley of the Moon,” is traditionally said to be derived from an indigenous word for “many moons,” though this notion is today considered romantic. It is however true that indigenous people lived here for twelve thousand years before the Spanish, Mexicans, and Americans arrived; and the name Sonoma may actually be derived, more prosaically, from a Mayacama word, “noma,” for town.

The Sonoma Valley and surrounding areas offer a wealth of activities ranging from the exploration of historic missions, to hiking nature’s rich trails, to bicycling the picturesque countryside. Then there is shopping, dining, and mixing with the colorful local crowd. Below you will find information about attractions, restaurants and wineries.

For guests coming to explore wineries, we offer two wine tasting passports: Sonoma Valley Passport ( OR Sonoma Country Passport ( ) Guests booking 2 or more nights, can request which passport they would like to receive in their check in packet.

“Perfect place for our honeymoon … right in downtown Sonoma within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. The innkeeper is very helpful and friendly and each day you get a cheese plate and cookie plate in addition to breakfast each morning. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. Comfy beds, nice light breakfast, a great stay!
